Chromaflo to Open Factory in Malaysia

Chromaflo Technologies has announced plans to build a pigment dispersion manufacturing facility, which will include a single-story warehouse space with a two-story office facility, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to the company, Chromaflo will be designing and constructing a world-class manufacturing, warehousing, technical laboratory, and office facility that is in line with Chromaflo branding common to all the existing Asia Pacific facilities. The 70,000-square-foot factory and warehouse and 8,000-square-foot office will reportedly support customers in the entire ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region and is expected to be complete in January of 2019. The new facility will be part of its new legal entity Chromaflo Technologies (M) SDN. BHD, the company stated.

Chromaflo has stated that the facility will leverage the manufacturing of a full range of water-based colorants, including those based on Chromaflo’s low-VOC technology, solvent-based colorants, and 100 percent solids colorants. These technologies will support end segments, such as architectural coatings; industrial and high-performance coatings; wood finishes; concrete protection; ink; latex; adhesives; caulks and sealants; gel coats; and various thermoset plastics applications, according to Chromaflo.

“Moving to a new facility was initiated by our continued growth and support,” said Scott Becker, president and CEO of Chromaflo. “The exciting action will allow Chromaflo to provide local products and support to the customers in ASEAN area—one of APAC’s largest sales and growth regions. The new facility will, without a doubt, demonstrate Chromaflo’s presence and commitment across the Asia Pacific region while also significantly reducing lead times relative to supply from our Australia and China facilities.”

The target timeline is to produce trial batches in early January 2019 with full production thereafter.
