The ChemQuest Group has expanded its Technology Institute offerings to include collaborative innovation led by vice president, Dr. Victoria Scarboroug, Ph.D. and intellectual property (IP) services led by Dr. Sapna Blackburn, Ph.D.
The ChemQuest Technology Institute (CQTI) is an R&D facility staffed by Ph.D. chemists that work in tandem with ChemQuest’s senior business strategy experts to collaborate on IP de-risked coatings and adhesives solutions to deliver value to end markets. CQTI’s services include formulation design, synthesis, and optimization that unlock the potential of existing or new molecules in a jointly developed molecular design, for example, or target functional coatings properties for high-value end uses.
Regarding the launch of the collaborative innovations segment, Scarborough stated, “There is a direct need for an external resource to vet all aspects of the innovation cycle without ego or career concerns. This organization combines a deep understanding of market drivers with the vision for real, not incremental, innovation. It is an honor to pioneer this process with the distinguished group of colleagues at ChemQuest and to continue the innovation journey by providing insights into new technologies that provide meaningful results for our clients.”
Balckburn will help ensure clients’ investments in innovation are managed effectively with a clearly defined business and IP strategy that generates maximum value, removing obstacles to market penetration and profitability. “A complete understanding of a company’s intellectual property―regardless of its size and position within the specialty chemicals value chain―must include portfolio monitoring of its chief competitors’ IP arsenal, said Dan Murad, president and CEO of ChemQuest. “Whether it is to ensure exclusivity in the marketplace, or guarantee control when monetizing the distribution of valuable intellectual assets to third parties, optimizing returns on a client’s portfolio through inorganic and organic IP growth is a key differentiator.”
