Nouryon announced the commission of its latest production facility to meet increasing demand for more sustainable chelates for the consumer cleaning industry. The start-up of the new site in Herkenbosch, Netherlands, is expected in the second quarter of 2022.
“As a strategic market for Nouryon, home and personal care is seeing a big shift in demand from traditional petroleum-based solutions to biodegradable options,” said Larry Ryan, Nouryon executive vice president and president, Performance Formulations and the Americas. “And we have a global manufacturing footprint to support it.”
Nouryon says the new production facility will double the company’s Dissolvine® green chelates capacity by supplying Dissolvine® M or MGDA (Methylglycine N,N-diacetic trisodium salt), Dissolvine® GL or GLDA (Glutamic acid, N,N-diacetic tetrasodium salt) and other essential ingredients to multinational and regional customers. The site will complement the company’s existing plants in Ohio and Ningbo, China.
“The commissioning of this new production site is driven by growing demand for eco-friendly solutions in the auto dishwashing and liquid laundry markets,” said Suzanne Carroll, Nouryon vice president of Home and Personal Care. “This new facility supports our broad product portfolio of readily biodegradable chelates and will strengthen our global footprint to supply customers in Asia, Europe and North America.”
Nouryon says Dissolvine® chelating products are derived from natural, renewable sources, are readily biodegradable and designed to enhance the performance of auto-dishwashing, liquid laundry detergents, household cleaners, as well as industrial and institutional cleaning products. The company says Dissolvine® chelating products replace phosphates without compromising performance detergent formulations.
